ASTLEY and Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club has a tremendous record of recruiting new riders and training them into champions.

This year has been a very good one, even by A&T standards, as no fewer than seven junior riders have won individual championships, in the full range of age categories.

Max Quarmby won the Astley & Tyldesley Go-Ride Grand Prix series, an entry level competition for new and young riders.

John White became A&T's 15th British individual title winner, when he won the British Youth & Junior League under eights Grand Prix series.

Joe Quarmby won the Manchester League under 10s individual final, while Ben Dickinson won the Northern under 10s Grand Prix series.

Emily Burgess won the Manchester League under 10s Grand Prix series and took the silver medal in the British under 10s girls’ individual final.

Max Evans won the Manchester League under 13s individual final.

Completing the septet is Reece Pollitt, who won both the Northern under 16s Grand Prix series and the Manchester League under 16s individual final, as well as taking the silver medal in the British Youth & Junior League under 16s Grand Prix series.

In addition, these riders and several more have contributed to A&T winning the Manchester League Division Two title and finishing runners-up in the under 10s British Club Championship final.
