A WESTLEIGH High School student has taken a step towards fulfilling his sporting dream after being called up to represent his county.
Year eight pupil Danny Carroll has been named in the Lancashire under 13s rugby union squad.
The Leigh RFU player, who began playing aged five, was chosen to participate in the Developing Player Programme before making his way through a series of trials.
He said: “It is fun and exciting to play rugby union at this level and to represent Lancashire is like a dream come true.”
Headteacher John Banks added: “I am delighted to find out about Danny’s success – he is a sporting star of the future and definitely one to watch out for. At the same time, Danny is a lovely, polite young man.
“He deserves every success in both his sporting and educational career and I wish him the very best of luck with everything he does.”
