TYLDESLEY ladies kicked off their weekend with a win over Hucknall in Liverpool.

Tyldesley fought back from a goal down to level through Grace Morley in the first quarter, before Morley added her second and a Lucy Aspinall effort extended their lead.

Aspinall struck again in the third quarter, but Hucknall came back to equalise.

It need two Jo Costello goals and another from Morley to level with less than a minute remaining, before Megan Price popped up with the winner from a set move.

Liverpool 9 Tyldesley 8

LIVERPOOL on their home pitch turned up with their full squad of players with four changes from the team that played at Newport.

A large number of spectators had turned up to watch the match between the two unbeaten teams.

Liverpool scored first but Tyldesley replied with three goals from Grace Morley to lead three goals to one at the end of the first quarter.

Liverpool responded by scoring three goals and Tyldesley responding with a goal from Jo Costello.

At half time the game was level at four goals each.

In the third quarter both teams scored two goals each.

A disputed referring decision resulted in a Liverpool goal ensuring the teams were level at six goals each entering the final quarter.

With a minute and a half left the game was level, but Grace Morley and Megan Price put Tyldesley back in it.

However,with seven seconds left Beth Bolton scored for Liverpool, causing the Tyldesley coach to immediately call a time out to set up a set play.

Hayley Price came out of goal to give Tyldesley the extra outfield played and unfortunately her shot hit the cross bar.

IN a game of missed opportunities, Tyldesley went down to their second defeat of the weekend.

At the end of the first quarter the match was level at one goal each, with the goal scored by Grace Morley.

In the second quarter the game was still tight with both teams scoring two goals to go in level three goals apiece thanks to Lucy Aspinall and Sam Grundy hitting the target.

Manchester extended their lead in the third and fourth quarters, with Tyldesley’s final goal scored by Sam Grundy.

Tyldesley have to win one of their last two matches to qualify for Championship One of the BWPL.

They travel to Grantham on November 1 and 2 to attempt to secure that win.

ON Thursday night Tyldesley junior swim team lost to Ashton-Under-Lyne in the Central Lancs Junior Swim League.

Ashton won the league and Tyldesley were runners up, the first time Tyldesley have entered this league.

On Friday night, Tyldesley mini water polo team under 12s played against Royton and won four goals to three. Lucy Mills, two, and Kate Rowland netted before Kelsey Evans scored the winner, with two penalty saves by Annie Holt.
