Leigh Miners Rangers 10 West Hull 28

MINERS Rangers' hopes of a top four finish were blown away in a home defeat to West Hull.

Leigh were the only team to beat the Lions on their home turf this season, but they were undone at home in the last 20 minutes as they dropped to sixth.

For an hour this was an evenly-balanced game which Miners just edged, but the final 20 belonged to Wests as Callum Windley, Ian Kerman and Carl Puckering ran the show.

Prior to then the battling of Darryl Kay, Scott O'Brien and Danny Jackson had appeared set to give Miners a notable scalp.

Miners made a nightmare start, spilling the restart and then the kick on the last for Louis Crowther to saunter in for the opener inside 60 seconds, Puckering goaling.

Miners responded and levelled with a finish from 20 metres out by Scott Travis, Jonny Youds with the conversion. The full back then had a try of his own, powering over from close range to give the hosts an interval lead.

Wests' big centre Dan Parker swatted off the tackles to score the leveller after the break and Parker's second gave them the lead.

This was followed by a Puckering penalty and tries for George Lawler and Sam Cator.
