De La Salle 0 Leigh 15
LEIGH put an end to De La Salle’s unbeaten home record on Saturday with a 15-0 win over the Salford side in the North Lancs and Cumbria League.
From the kick off, Leigh applied immense pressure on the home side eventually resulting in a try for Steve Millard.
The score remained 5-0 in Leigh's favour until Drake stroked over a penalty to give them an eight-point lead at half time.
Three penalties awarded to Leigh in as many minutes as well as a yellow card for an over enthusiastic La Salle player did not help the hosts’ cause and another three penalties in Leigh's direction soon followed.
With every ruck and maul resulting in fists flying, Leigh kept their discipline and maintained possession throughout.
Driving mauls with Ian Woods leading by example eventually breached La Salle’s defence for a converted try and with the visitors leading 15-0, the match went from bad to worse.
The win continues Leigh’s 100 per cent winning start and keeps them sitting at the top of the table after nine games played.
