LEIGH Centurions star Martyn Ridyard was honoured by the Rugby League Writers Association at last night's annual dinner at the Fir Grove Hotel, Warrington.
Ridyard received the Tom Bergin Trophy after winning the Man of the Match Award in the Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final victory over Featherstone Rovers last month.
The Tom Bergin Trophy commemorates the former long serving Salford City reporter journalist Tom Bergin and was first awarded in 1987. Micky Higham and Neil Turley are the only previous Leigh recipients of the Award.
Higham was Man of the Match in Leigh's Grand Final defeat against Dewsbury in 2000 while Turley was Man of the Match in Leigh's Grand Final victory over Whitehaven in 2004.
