LEIGH completed the double over Fleetwood with a 31-7 victory at Hand Lane on Saturday.
Although slow out of the blocks and needing to be solid in defence, they clicked into gear after ten minutes when a flowing three quarter move from their own half ended with Adam Dyson racing over for the opening try which Rob Drake converted.
Drake then tagged on a penalty to put Leigh ten points clear.
Fleetwood were put under pressure with Leigh’s pack gaining good ground, which scrum-half Dave Wood was quick to exploit when he sent Ryan McInstry over for a converted try for a 17-0 half-time lead.
The second half was three minutes old when smart passing between Jimmy Wilkinson and Keiron Duffy put the full-back over for a try which Drake again converted.
Fleetwood hit back with a converted try, but Leigh were soon back in the ascendancy with substitute Chris Boyle instrumental in their fourth try, scored by Alex Middleton Adams.
The ever-reliable Drake again converted to round off a win that kept Leigh joint top of the North Lancs and Cumbria table with Blackburn.
McInstry stood out in the backs with Leigh’s engine room of David Penn and Paul Hampson putting in a good shift.
