KYLE Lomotey put the icing on the cake of a successful night for Astley VIP Boxing Club at their latest show at the Sky Bar in Leigh.

Elite middleweight Lomotey, from Wigan Road, Leigh beat the current England number eight, James Seddon, from Liverpool, controlling the contest from the first bell.

After four skills contests involving Bailey Hackett, Bradd Baxter, Luke Higgins and Adam Baglin, 12-year-old Callum Edwards made an excellent winning debut.

Kai Pennington, Ethan Greenhalgh and Dan Lyon narrowly missed out in their contests before Sean Carr, Karl Lyon and Paul Fleming got the club back on track.

Kristian Hackett lost on points to Hamza Arshad, from Sheffield, and Lewis Broad was unlucky not to see his hand raised against the experienced Ali Zahid, from Bury.

Andrew Fleming put in a ‘Boxer of the Night’ performance, defeating Mujahid Najib, from Sheffield, Jonny Brown, from Lowton, battled to a win over the much older Mark Bebbington then Lomotey closed the show in style.

The show included traditional 10-bell tribute to former boxer Martyn Bailey, who died at the age of 39 last week.
