LEIGH East moved level on points with second-placed Featherstone Lions in Division Two of the NCL after claiming a 24-20 victory at home to their promotion rivals.

The home side opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Martin Roden latched on to a Curtis Littewood break.

Adam Holland was on target with his first of four conversions.

East were pegged back just five minutes later when Featherstone centre Josh Hardcastle crossed in the corner and with Ian Jackson converting the scores were level.

Strong-running second rower Kori Barber crashed over from a short ball close to the line on 20 minutes, again Holland converted.

East increased their lead two minutes later when debutant Jacob Sinclair scored out wide and with Holland adding his third goal the score was 18-6.

As errors came into the game David Garahan scored out wide for the Lions to make it18-10 at the break.

Featherstone continued where they left off when Dean Gamble capitalised on poor defending to score under the posts and the visitors took the lead on 50 minutes when Reece Dyas collected a kick out wide.

But East clinched what turned out to be the winner with 10 minutes remaining as Jacob Sinclair sent Josh Adudwumaa racing in at the corner.

Holland kept his 100 per cent record in tact to give East a four-point cushion and they saw out the game to move up to third in the table.
