MEG Boydell hopes this summer's Women's World Cup in Canada will be the last one she watches as a fan after earning an England call-up.

The 14-year-old Bedford High School pupil has been picked to represent the Under-15s in a double-header against Holland this week.

The first game was played yesterday at Warrick University, with the second due to take place tomorrow.

It is Meg's first chance to impress in a match following a successful trial earlier this month.

"I was ecstatic to be picked," said the teenager, who started playing for Eastleigh before joining Liverpool's School of Excellence as a nine-year-old.

"I felt every emotion really.

"Now I have got this chance I am going to try my best to make it through the ranks into the senior team.

"I will be 18 when the next World Cup comes around so I could just about be old enough.

"If I can get as much experience as possible between now and then, you never know."

Meg, who can play with both feet, has excelled for Liverpool this season playing as a winger, earning the vote from her team-mates for the players' player of the year award.

She was tried out at full-back during her trial for England but says she does not mind where she plays.

"I just want to have a chance to show what I can do," she added.

"My favourite player is Steven Gerrard, but I also love Natasha Dowie. She is really aggressive in the way she just wants to put the ball in the back of the net. You can see she is really passionate about her football in the way she plays - just like me."
