LOCAL riders produced three perfect performances to win their respective titles in the final regional round of the British Youth and Junior League.

Tom Whitwam, who races for Sheffield Stars, won all four heats he competed in before storming to victory in the A final to take first place in the under-12s competition.

The 11-year-old Astley rider repeated that feat in the three previous rounds to win the u12s title in the Northern and Scotland region for the second successive season.

And he was not alone. Two young members of the Astley and Tyldesley team, Reece Pollitt (u17s) and John White (u10s), also won all four heats and their A finals to make it four victories in a row in the regional rounds.

They have now qualified to race in the four national rounds, with the first one taking place in Poole at the end of this month.

In the team event, A&T finished in second place behind Sheffield.

The Stars are the only northern club to make it through to the u13s British Club Championships, which will take place at Ipswich on Saturday.

Tom has been selected to race for the team and will be competing against sides from as far afield as Exeter, Poole and Ipswich.
