LEIGH East kept the pressure on the top two in the table after a 34-22 win against Dewsbury Celtic.

Martin Roden grabbed the first try but Celtic were straight back at it scoring almost instantly to level the scores.

Jacob Sinclair, Sam Grainey and Mark Cahill each grabbed unanswered tries each converted by Adam Holland to take East 24-6 up at the break.

Celtic ran in three unanswered tries of their own to bring the game within two points.

As the game went on Dewsbury Celtic sensed the comeback but East stayed tough and Jordan Hellam went over to score on his debut after a little show and go under the posts.

With the clock ticking, Celtic had little time to score but East ended up going over to seal the game through Jacob Sinclair to see the Lancastrians post another two points on the league ladder.

Elsewhere, Leigh East third team lost out 40-32 to Bank Quay Bulls.

They just came up short, with positives all round and East will be looking at having all three open age teams playing on the same day on October 3 down at Ledgard Avenue.

Meanwhile, Callum Thomason scored two tries and was the man of the match as East Under-7s newbies lost 4-9 to West Bank while Jake Smith also touched down.

The u7s put in an emphatic display to run out 13-2 winners against a spirited Langworthy Reds.

Zak Darbyshire won coaches award, Ben Cohen got best attack, Clay Davies got best defence and Colby Davies won the fans award.

B Allred bagged a hat-trick, along with further scored by man of the match Jackson and Buisara sealed a 5-4 victory for the u8s against Blackbrook.

The u9s were also celebrating with a 8-6 win against local rivals Golborne.

The try-scorers were Jamie Broom (three), Billy Southworth (one), Dylan Gregson (one)1, Chayse Quigley (one), Will Nguimbi (one)

But the u12s went down 16-8 to Blackbrook.

Jordan Fishwick, Ryan Barnes crossed the try-line.

Meanwhile, the U14s raced to a 54-0 win against Leyland Warriors.

Callum Hargreaves broke the deadlock and there were further 1st half tries from Jack Wild (two), Kieran Bellamy, Jordan McKay and Lewis O'Neill eventually broke the Warriors' spirit.

Second half tries from Elliott Dean (two) and McKay sealing his hat-rick closed the game out.
