LEIGH Miners Rangers are hoping to land a cup double when they take on Wath Brow in the Kingstone Press Conference Trophy final at Widnes' Select Security Stadium on Sunday at 11.30am.

Fresh from becoming the Premier Division League Leaders Trophy, the Miners will be hoping to add another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet.

The match will be the first of three matches on Championship Finals Day.

Miners Rangers were crowned NCL Premier Division league winners for 2015 with this 50-22 victory over Hull Dockers last week.

The Dockers, resilient as always, determined to rip up the script and leading 16-14 at the interval.

But Miners regrouped at half-time and a blistering opening to the second half with three tries in the first 10 minutes paved the way to victory and the League Leader’s Trophy.

Finishing top of the table for the first time in seven years, with one game still to be played, Miners can reflect on a fantastic achievement and look ahead with confidence to the challenges and opportunities to come in the cup and play-off competitions.

The Miners started brightly with Jonny Youds break down the right to put Brad Hargreaves over for the opener, then a neat drop-off ball put Jimmy Muir over for a six pointer before Muir returned the favour for Thomason to score and put Miners well on top at 14-0.

Hull's Andy Kay opened their account as he snapped up a bobbling pass to cut through for the try then Jason Bowsley and Chris Stephenson to leave Miners with much to ponder at the interval.

Miners Rangers scored four quick tries through Mick O’Boyle, Youds, Andrew Groves and Shaun Dowie put Miners well on top.

The Dockers never threw the towel in when Jon Eccles went over out wide and Miners finished with a flourish, with Jimmy Muir and Tom Farrimond surged over to bring up the half century.
