GRAND Final and Challenge Cup winner Harrison Hansen has pledged his future to Leigh Centurions for the next two years.

Hansen, who played senior internationals for New Zealand and Samoa, becomes the third Salford Red Devils star to make the short trip from the AJ Bell Stadium to Leigh Sports Village.

And former Man of Steel, Rangi Chase, is soon expected to complete the "fab four" of Hansen, Cory Paterson and Rene Maitua.

Leigh's failed bid for Super League this season has not reduced their pulling power for big name captures.

And head of rugby Derek Beaumont told the club website: "Harrison is a proven professional at the top of his game.

"His experience and qualities will be insurmountable at our club, benefitting everyone around him.

"His air of professionalism and attitude are unrivalled in the game and I am honoured that he has chosen to join our club, dropping down a level to help us realise our potential.

"Harrison believes in what we are trying to do here and is committed to helping us achieve that.

"The fact he believes in our vision is very reassuring and I hope that rubs off on our fans, who will remain as committed next year as they have been this year.

"Harrison is a leader, a warrior, a born winner and that excites me."

Hansen, aged 29, whose father Shane played for Swinton and Salford, helped Wigan to Grand Final glory in 2010 and 2013 plus Wembley wins in 2011 and 2013.

His arrival coincides with the departure of club captain Oliver Wilkes. The dad of two, who enjoyed two spells with Leigh, has joined home town club Barrow Raiders.

"I had another year on my deal at Leigh but I knew it was the right time for the family to move back," said the 35-year-old Scottish international forward.

"I was also working and playing full-time at Leigh and it was a little bit too much.

“So I let the right people know I was going to become available and also I approached Leigh and told them of my intention.

“They accepted my honesty and were very grateful I did that rather than wait until the end of the year and leave them stuck."

Leigh coach Paul Rowley described Wilkes as a "brave fearless winner" adding: "It's been an absolute pleasure to play alongside you and then coach you."

Leigh full-back Gregg McNally and hooker Bob Beswick have been included in Ireland's squad for the forthcoming European Championship.
