ASTLEY motorcyle racer Mike Norbury ended the 2015 season as a double champion following a successful weekend's racing at his local track Three Sisters, near Wigan, writes Colin Port.

The 20-year-old clinched two second-placed finishes in the Formula 600 series and finished second and third in the Open Championships to clinch both titles.

He also secured second place in the Formula 400.

Norbury went into the weekend, which was organised by the Preston & District Motorcycle Club, already leading the Formula 600 and Open Championships.

"My aim was to take it easy and make sure I finished in the points to seal the championships," he said.

"I ended up winning both championships on the Saturday which meant I could relax on Sunday and concentrate more on lap times."

He went on to enjoy some great battles with Three Sisters lap record holder Jamie Devine on the Sunday, posting his fastest ever lap around the track with an impressive 55.9secs.

The young racer, who rides an ageing Honda CBR600RR, is now looking for further sponsorship to help him build on his victories next season.
