MORE than 50 Leigh Harriers made the short trip to Bolton Harriers at Leverhulme Park to compete on a tough course.

First Harrier across the line was Georgina Leck home from St Marys University in her first cross country race of the season, she pushed the eventual winner all the way to the line winning second place on a very testing 5k two lap course finishing in a time of 22:01.

Next runner home was Fiona Steel (26:36), Brenda Wane (28:24), Marjorie Leigh (29:01) who was first Over-65 lady then Rachel Hodgkinson (30:51) managed to claim the ninth Over-45s lady and Dianne Denny (34:58).

Olivia Stones ran well for the second week winning her best position in the league in the U17s ladies race over 5k for ninth place (25:00).

Meanwhile, in the senior men’s race, Dave Smith consolidated his overall second place in the league with a hard-fought eighth place (37:01).

Liam Moore in his first cross country of the season for the club ran a well-judged 12th place (37:18) , Phil Williams was 18th (38:00), Richard Smith was 28th (39:45), Martin Conroy was named fourth Over 45 (41:46), Sean Spillane (44:50) and Andy Howarth (49:40) all helped the team finish fourth team in the race.

The under-15s girls side won the team race while the boys took second place.

Keely Hodgkinson finished third (17:22), she was well supported by Eve Williams was seventh (17:51), Joanna Smith took 13th place (19:02) and Emma McIntyre was 25th (20:10).

The boys team were led in by Kristian Wade in third (15:26), Joseph Senior in eighth 15:56, Joseph Wane in 10th (16:04)being the team counters. There were some good supporting team runs from Ben McLaughlin in 13th (16:45), Elliot Livingston in 18th (17:44), Lucas White in 23rd (18:19), Alex Woodcock (20:17), Michael Adshead (20:34) and James Cartwright (23:32) crossed the line.

Elsewhere, in the u17s men’s race Sam Wardle made sure of first overall individual place in the league with a good solid run taking second place (19:24). Ben Livingston ran a good race to finish in fourth (21:12).

In the younger races Melissa Ince running in the girls u11s race over 2k by finishing fourth (7:39), Elizabeth Sharrock in 12th (7:57), Megan Short in 17th (8:11), Olivia Galvin in 22nd (8:22), Cara Schofield in 40th (9:02) and Emily Harper in 65th (9:37).
