TYLDESLEY came close and would have more than deserved at least a bonus point against in-form Oldham but crashed to a 27-14 loss.

Despite a bright start Bongs found themselves 10 points down, after being hit with two quick tries in the 14th and 17th minute.

A good kick from Martin Wallbank put pressure on the hosts with the ball being lost.

Scott Brown kicked on and collected the ball, before going over, beneath the posts, Wallbank converted a try after 26 minutes in.

Oldham’s extra pace out wide paid off as they went in 17-7 down at the break.

From the restart, Tyldesley applied plenty pressure, which had Oldham trapped in their own half for the first half hour.

Finally the pressure paid off, has Dean Brown burst his way through a ruck on route to the try line, Wallbank added the extra two.

With 63 minutes gone and just three point separating the teams, it was the visitors who seemed to have the upper hand.

Six minutes later, Oldham extended their lead to six points, after converting a penalty.

Oldham scored another try but Tyldesley continued to battle, but now in search of a losing bonus point, despite going close on a couple of occasions, but it wasn’t to be.

The man of the match was Craig Pulman.

Tyldesley now have a two week and much-needed break, in which it’s hoped a few first team players may be back in action for their next outing, on December 5.
