TYLDESLEY failed to back up last week's determined win, as they came up against a side whose support play gave them an edge has they breached the home defence via some excellent handling and pace.

The first half was a pretty even affair. Tyldesley had a six-point lead by the thirteenth minute, after Martin Wallbank converted two penalties. Oldham hit the front through a converted try, three minutes later, although Tyldesley replied with another three points from Wallbank, giving the lead back to the hosts, which was to be the last time they troubled the scoreboard.

Despite being down to fourteen, via a yellow card, the visitors crossed for another try. With the half all but over, Tyldesley received a needless yellow, reducing them to fourteen. A now full strength Oldham breached the line for a third try, conversion added, giving them a ten point cushion at the break.

By the time Tyldesley had 15 back on the field, Oldham had recorded another eight points.

Although the hosts tried to compete and disrupt, the visitors recorded another two tries one converted.
