LOVE 'em or hate 'em – games involving Leigh Centurions are rarely dull and this fifth successive Kingstone Press Championship win was no exception.

Gareth Hock and Jamie Acton were sin binned, Harrison Hansen carried off and four tries in nine minutes, including one from ex Rams loanee, Ben Reynolds, ensured an eventful second half.

Former Wigan and Salford favourite Hansen admitted to being in “la la land’ after a sickening collision just after half time.

But his powers of recovery are such he could even be in contention to face Whitehaven at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

“Back to normality now,” he later informed his Twitter followers. “Thanks for your msg's I'm good and well was in la la land for a while tho ready for nxt week.’ Leigh’s strength in depth and star quality also enable them to absorb the loss of key players.

Even with Hock yellow carded after referee Sam Ansell placed Centurions on a team warning, Neil Jukes’ side finally stamped their authority on proceedings.

Reynolds’ try was the catalyst for 24 unanswered points as Leigh moved from 16-8 clear to 40-8 ahead.

That was not the end of the action, however, with Jason Crookes and Acton sin binned for fighting and Dewsbury adding respectability to the score line with touch downs from Dale Morton and Jack Teanby.

Leigh are now unbeaten in nine league and cup games, slowly starting to live up to their pre-season favourites’ tag in the game’s second tier.

With Batley’s surprise defeat at Championship newcomers Oldham and Bradford losing at home to Sheffield Eagles, Centurions now hold a two-point lead at the top.

They are also five clear of fifth spot where Halifax and Featherstone are jockeying for position.

But again it was not picture perfect from the visitors, still without ex-England international Rangi Chase.

Dewsbury, in common with many top flight and Championship sides, are hard hit by injury. However, Leigh still struggled to subdue their spirit despite Sam Hopkins touching down twice in the opening 14 minutes.

Luke Adamson’s 26th minute effort and two goals from Paul Sykes cut Leigh’s advantage to 12-8 at the break.

Adam Higson stretched the deficit when the game resumed but it was the blitz from Reynolds, Liam Kay, Cory Paterson and Richard Whiting that took the match away from Glenn Morrison’s side.

Martyn Ridyard marked his 200th Leigh appearance with six goals from seven attempts before the Rams struck twice in three minutes before the hooter.
