ASTLEY & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club riders were in action at Stockport in the sixth and final round of the Manchester League Grand Prix series.

Successful racing saw A&T won the Division Two title for the third successive year and take three individual Grand Prix titles.

In the under 10s match, A&T’s Jack Murray rode to a 16 points maximum score to take second place in the overall series behind his teammate John White, who had already clinched the series before the previous round.

The under 13s category saw the series leader, A&T’s Matt Snell, away on holiday and consequently he slipped to third place in the final standings.

After illness Ciaran Collins eased his way back in with a 14 points score, to finish third overall in the under 16s series.

Reece Pollitt won his four races to finish as the under 19s series winner.

In the team event, Bury pipped A&T on the night but A&T had already won the Division Two title for the third successive year.

Manchester League Division Two result (top 5 scorers count to their team’s total): Bury 70, Astley & Tyldesley 67, Stockport 53, Sheffield 16.

A&T scorers: Jack Murray 16, Reece Pollitt 16, Ciaran Collins 14, Emily Burgess 12, Aiden Green 9.

Final Division Two team standings: Astley & Tyldesley 22.5, Bury 19.5, Stockport 12, Sheffield 6.

In the seniors Division One match, GP series leader Pollitt rode steadily to score 12 points to secure the overall series title.

Stockport took their third successive team win of the season, to draw level with Bury on match points and retain the Division One title on race points.

Manchester League Division One match result: Stockport 65 Bury 37, Astley & Tyldesley 12.

A&T scorer: Reece Pollitt 12.

Final Division One team standings: Stockport 15 (238), Bury 15 (230), Astley & Tyldesley 6.

Pollitt was a member of the England team which won the European Junior Team Cup at Poole.

He won two races on his way to an impressive 13 points score as England (49 points) finished ahead of Poland (42), Wales (34) and Scotland (30).

Pollitt also raced for Great Britain in a junior test win against Poland, scoring 10 points.

A&T’s Przemek Binkowski took the bronze medal in the European Championships individual final at Poole, scoring 15 points.

Przemek was a member of the Poland team which won the European Team Cup. Poland scored 64 points, beating England (62), Wales (55), Ireland (36), Scotland (29).

Przemek also raced for Poland as they beat Britain by six points in the senior test match at Southampton.
