Ben Hardcastle gave Michael Clegg’s team the perfect start when he latched onto a Mark Truffas pass to score early doors and Jordan Cover doubled the lead when he headed home a Truffas centre.

The hosts pulled one back to give Colls a odd goal in three interval lead. Cover got his second ssmasing in from close range after good approach work from Truffas and Darrhyl Mason. Jamie Forbes then saw red for a mistimed challenge and this gave Gate hope and they reduced the arrears again. Mark Battersby came off the bench and calmed Colls nerves with his 15th goal of the campaign. In a breathless game the hosts scored again in stoppage time as Colls breathed a sigh of relief when the fina whistle wws blown.

Colls return to the summit of the Hallmark Security Premier Division with a Friday night triumph in rainy Manchester.

For the second time in a week Colls scored an early goal. Following a corner Danny Lafferty slammed in from ten yards out. Hey equalised minutes later but Colls began to boss proceedings aan it was no surprise when the lead was retaken on the half hour mark. Truffas crossed for Battersby to score with his head.

Colls dominated the second half and had a few chances to increase the lead but couldn't manage it. Jake Kenny going the closest when his powerblaster struck the bar.

All in all another good performance.

On Saturday Colls visit 1874 Northwich in the FA Vase while Ashton Athletic visit The Kensite Stadium Monday for a quarter to eight KO.
