1874 Northwich 0 Atherton Colls 3.

ATHERTON Colls put on a powerful second half show to reach the third Round of the Buildbase FA Vase.

Michael Clegg’s team visited old rivals 1874 Northwich in the prestigious national competition and the draw guaranteed the Hallmark Security League at least one team in the 3rd round hat.

The teams know each other inside out and this was probably why the first half was a bit of a let down.

The teams have a lot of respect for each other and it looked like neither wanted to lose rather than going all out for goals.

The second half was totally the opposite and it was Colls who dominated the proceedings.

On 50 minutes Mark Truffas fed Jordan Cover whose fierce shot was too hot to handle for the 1874 keeper. Cover teed up Ben Hardcastle in the box to double the lead.

Cover then got his brace with a close range effort.

Colls were denied a nailed on penalty late on but this did not really upset the players and their jubilant large following.

A fine victory against quality opponents.

On Saturday Colls entertain Bootle in the a league fixture. Please note the kick off is 2pm.
