LEIGH travelled to Warrington with hope and expectation as recent performances have begun to show promise.

This was quickly dispelled as Warrington took an early lead. A penalty by Elliot Ryan brought Leigh back into the game.

Leigh then camped in the Warrington half but a counter attack put the opposition further ahead.

The remainder of the half was a tight affair but right on half time Warrington placed a cross field kick to the corner, the winger caught and offloaded to create a very well worked try.

Half time 18:7

Leigh started the second half on the front foot with a pick and drive leading to a converted score by Iain wood. Leigh applied more pressure leading to a similar try by Wayne McCabe.

It was all Leigh possession for a time but when Warrington had the ball they made it pay with good counter attacking discipline.

Leigh were not out the match and when Olli Farley brought the match to within four points with five minutes to go it was anyone’s games.

However, Warrington soaked up the pressure and as always, looked to attack from the back and scored again to give a final score of 37-28

A better performance by the Leigh team who will look to carry this into next week
