HAVING shaken off a field of around 1,500 Golf Clubs nationally and coming through nine rounds; Leigh were one of four Ladies golf clubs that reached the National Finals in Spain last week.
Following a close semi-final match with Burntisland Golf House on the Tuesday which saw Leigh win 3.5-1.5; Leigh moved into the final on the second days play to face the other semi-finalist winners Bude and North Cornwall.
Leigh teed off first and their five team players all teed off strongly and demonstrated the great team spirit which had been with them through every round to bring home a win 4-1.
Although credit is also due to other club players that contributed to this success through the earlier rounds.
The Leigh team was made up of seven players, Team captain Mhairi Ferrol, Nikki Martin, Rachel Higson, Heather Pirrie, Joanne Lennox Warburton, Penny Moorfield and Tracey Sherwood who all contributed to their success.
