TALENTED rugby players from Christ Church Primary School in Leigh did a lot more than try at the Greater Manchester Youth Games.
The year six pupils overcame tough opposition from more than 30 teams at the Manchester Regional Arena to lift the tag rugby trophy.
Teacher Mr Hudson said: "Considering we are such a small school it was a remarkable achievement to win the competition.
"The children showed wonderful teamwork and determination.
“They all worked for each other and every member of the team played a pivotal part in our success.
“The team played hard but fair and it was certainly a day to remember.”
More than 2,000 children took part in the multi-sports event on Tuesday.
