AFTER just two games in seven weeks, a stuttering Tyldesley returned from Burrows hill with a valuable win, against a very resilient side, which defended and took their chances well.

Bongs dominated possession and territory for the first 25 minutes, but a couple of wrong options, resulted in just one score, via Ash Worsfold, who stepped the defence before cutting through, for a great individual try.

Winnington came back and levelled things up with a converted try of their own, with just over thirty minutes played.

Tyldesley came straight back with some strong forward plays, good handling had the ball go out to Mark Dickinson who supplied a brilliant defence splitting pass to Jack Kirkpatrick who touched down, Paul martin added his second conversion. Half time 7-14.

A moment of Individual brilliance, from Zack Sargent, extended the visitors lead to fourteen, after shear strength and pace allowed him to brush off all in front of him, on route to the line, for a third converted try, from thirty meters out.

With 20 left to play, the mood changed after Park crossed for two converted tries within ten minutes, which in truth had them looking the more confident side, with the scores now level.

To their credit, Tyldesley continued to press hard, but like several others, they failed to make good, some promising plays.

Tyldesley missed the opportunity to regain the lead after an easy penalty kick rebounded of the sticks, but lady luck was on the visitor’s side, after Winnington conceded another penalty within seconds, this time Martin made no mistake, and dissected the posts, giving Bongs a slender three point cushion which turned out to be the match winner.

MOM Ash Worsfold.
