Chorley Panthers u18 16 Leigh East u18 32

EAST U18s travelled to Chorley on Sunday morning for an unusual 10:30 kick off in the sun.

They started brightly, scoring with their first attacking play through Dale Whitworth after a fantastic kick return from Brad Holroyd. The goal was missed but Leigh East led 4-0.

More good build up play saw East move close and it wasn't long until they were over again when Carter spied an opening in the Panthers line to go over.

East then stretched their advantage when powerhouse forward James Fleming went over from 30 metres, rouding the fullback in the process.

Missed goal-kicks kept Chorley in the game while East reacted to some adverse calls from the referee with committed defence.

One such call brought six points for the hosts.

Chorley brought the scores level not long after with a converted try after the player was able to somehow ground the ball in a four man tackle.

With the game level George Hutton was on hand to score for East on the stroke of half-time. Another missed conversion meant that East hald a 16-12 advantage.

East started the second half superbly and broke away in the game.

Will Ludlow got himself on the score sheet after beating four men on his way to the line with Brad Holroyd nudging over the first successful goal for the visitors. That made it 22-12 to East.

Connor Wilcock continued the great start to the new half and showed pace and power, going down the right edge knocking defenders off as he went over for a spectacular try. This time Brad Whelan goaled and it was 28-12.

Chorley claimed a free play try but it was purely consolation.

One more East try came before the end and included some fantastic build up play down the left edge before Callum Lewis touched down on the right after quick thinking from the East half backs.
