TYLDESLEY became double champions after beating Burnley 50-24 to win the Lancashire Plate final at Leigh.

A solid team performance, capped off what had already been a fantastic season, after both teams became champions of their respective leagues, which confirms the best season on record, in the club's long history.

A dominant first 40, blew the opposition away, with Bongs recording five tries, after a good pack performance, bossed the opposition, allowing the backs to display some quality handling and support play.

Captain and inside centre Mark Dickinson recorded the first try, seven minutes in, after Tyldesley pressed hard, just metres from Burnley’s line.

Further quality plays and shears pace out wide, gained reward, resulting in young wingers Jack Kirkpatrick and Danny Berrisford recording two tries apiece, with Paul Martin converting three, for a 31-0 half time lead.

Tyldesley started off from where they left the first half, and recorded two more tries within the first ten minutes, both via Berrisford, one converted, stretching the lead to 43 points.

To their credit Burnley never threw the towel in and notched two tries of their own before Craig Pulman recorded Bongs' final try, martin converted, with around seven minutes reaming, although Burnley still found time to record another two tries, both converted.

MOM Danny Berrisford.
