LEIGH East avenged their defeat at Millom at the start of the season with a seven try success at Ledgard Avenue.

It was an afternoon where East had to dig deep after losing Jamie Waters and Martin Roden with game ending injuries.

The hosts were out of the blocks quickly, taking advantage of a slow start by Millom.

After forcing a drop out from the kick-off, East attacked and Tom Worthington was able to ground Adam Holland's grubber kick in the in goal after it took a deflection.

Worthington knocked over the first of six goals and a good start became a great one five minutes later when Josh Adudwumaa raided from close range and crashed through for his 7th try of the season.

Full back Brad Cave was next on the scoresheet. It came after Millom launched an attack and knocked on. From the scrum Holland booted the ball downfield.

Cave kicked on and won the race for a thrilling score. Worthington goaled to make it 16-0 after 13 minutes.

Next came Waters' injury and soon after Millom hooker Tom Newbiggen joined him on the touchline. East shook off the disruption to post their fourth try through Tai Tupou on the right and led 22-0 at half-time. Adam Wilkes was sent to the sinbin a few minutes before the end of the half and returned with a point to prove.

Sadly much of the first twenty minutes of the new half was scrappy as mistakes piled up.

Worthington broke the malaise with a 55th minute drop goal and East snapped back with a 69th minute try by Adam Holland.

Shortly after visiting stand-off Adam Kelly was sinbinned for a professional foul and Leigh East ran away with it. Adam Swift scored two tries in quick succession with Worthington completing his seventeen point haul with two further goals.
