YEAR seven pupils at St Mary’s Catholic High School in Astley have again shown their athletic ability.

They followed up their Wigan Schools Cross Country Championships title triumph with a team bronze medal at the Greater Manchester School Games.

Each pupil had to compete in the 100 metres, 800 metres, long jump, javelin and relay at Sportcity in Eastlands.

A spokesman for the school on Manchester Road said: “The team spirit and support was excellent, and their attitude towards all events was second to none.

“They are now looking forward to individual athletics success at the Wigan Athletics Championships at Leigh Sports Village on Tuesday.”

The boys team was made up of B Tyrer, J Edge, J Boamah, I Fryer and F Toher Horne.

The year seven girls competing were G Craddock, R Boamah, M Higson, B Prescott and H Bowring.
