As debuts go Samisoni Langi and Daniel Mortimer won’t remember Leigh’s worst defeat of the season with any fondness.

Up is the only way now for ex Penrith Panther, Langi, Cronulla Shark, Mortimer and Neil Jukes’ Centurions.

Hooker Micky Higham also returned to action after hamstring issues for the first time since April 17 but it was one of his former clubs who dominated proceedings.

Jukes will now use the two remaining games of the regular season against Huddersfield on Friday and Salford to battle harden his squad for the Middle 8’s campaign.

Warrington ran in nine tries to avenge their 22-8 defeat at Leigh Sports Village with winger Tom Lineham grabbing four.

Ben Reynolds, given first crack at partnering Aussie Mortimer, and Matty Dawson replied for Leigh who trailed 24-6 at half-time.

Leigh have now conceded 126 points in their last three defeats. More significantly, however, is a finishing position that won’t allow them an extra home game in the Middle 8’s.

“We knew we were in the Middle 8’s and now we know we will have four away and three at home,” said Jukes.

“We have been in it before and understand what is expected.

“So, we need to hit the ground running on game one and keep that consistency through to game seven.”

On his team’s display Jukes added: “We were poor from minute one and second best in every department which is unlike us.”

Ryan Atkins crossed for Warrington’s opening try after five minutes and the home team continued to prosper even after losing Ben Westwood to the sin bin for a tackle on Danny Tickle-the latter making his 400th Super League appearance.

Ashton Sims and two touch downs from Lineham stretched Wire’s lead before Reynolds added to his double against Catalans with another touch down just before the break.

There was to be no recovery against last season’s Grand Final runners-up, needing victory to stand any chance of denying Huddersfield a spot in the Super 8’s.

Former Catalans Dragon, Ben Pomeroy, marked his debut with a 48th minute try while Jack Hughes and Lineham crossed before Dawson grabbed his 12th try in 22 appearances this season.

Warrington hadn’t finished and Lineham-with his fourth try- and Dec Patton went over in the final three minutes. Westwood kicked a rare goal to ensure Leigh conceded 50 points for the first time this year.
