BEN Reynolds has signed a new three-year contract with Leigh Centurions until November 2020.

The 23-year-old half back was the Centurions' leading points-scorer in 2017, kicking 63 goals and scoring eight tries in 22 games and amassing 158 points.

Ben Reynolds said: "I am absolutely delighted to sign this new deal. Staying with Leigh Centurions was what I wanted to do and though relegation was a big downfall for everyone I am relishing the challenge ahead to get the Club back to where it belongs.

"Every year is a challenge and next year will be no different and I am confident that we will come back stronger as a team.

"I really enjoyed playing in Super League and it was a really good experience to play with and against so many world class players. It was devastating to get relegated but I have spoken to the coaches and evaluated my performances and I know what I have to do to reach my potential as a player.

"I will be working extremely hard to fulfil the faith that the Club has shown in me and reward the fantastic supporters at Leigh Centurions. The passion that the fans have for the Club and the game is unreal and Leigh is a real Rugby League town.

" That passion certainly transmits itself to the players.

"Even though I come from Castleford I regard myself as an adopted Leyther now and it means everything to me to play for Leigh Centurions."

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont said: "I am delighted that Ben has agreed to stay at the Club and fight on, despite interest from Super League.

"I rate him highly and he knows that it was me that brought him to the Club and that I believe in him and his ability. He played a lot of Super League this year and will be better for it as he continues to develop.

"The fact he has agreed to stay on and fight for me and this Club speaks volumes for him and I place on record my appreciation for his loyalty to me and this town. Ben is a popular player so I know the fans will be pleased to hear he is staying.

"It is a difficult time for the Club dealing with the tough issues that relegation presents you with so it is nice to get this positive news out there."

Ben Reynolds originally joined Leigh Centurions from Castleford Tigers in November 2014. During that 2014 season he came to the fore, making his Tigers Super League debut and earning the accolade as Joint Championship One Young Player of the Year alongside James Saltonstall playing on dual registration forms for York City Knights.

A former Knottingley and Featherstone Lions ARL player, he came through the Castleford academy ranks and impressed the watching Derek Beaumont playing in a reserve game for York against the Centurions reserves at Leigh East during 2014.

Ben Reynolds has scored 19 tries and kicked 78 goals in 48 games for Leigh Centurions.

In his career, which also includes dual registration spells at Doncaster and Dewsbury he has scored 28 tries and kicked 160 goals in 75 games.
