THE 2017 British cycle speedway season has finished and the Astley & Tyldesley club are celebrating their most successful season ever, having won six team trophies this year.

However, for Max Evans, there is still plenty of racing to look forward to during the forthcoming month.

The 15-year-old has been selected for the Great Britain junior squad and will be flying out to Australia to represent GB in the forthcoming World Junior Championships and junior test matches.

Max, a Fred Longworth High School pupil, lives locally in Tyldesley and has been a valued member of the Astley & Tyldesley club, since starting racing for the club as a six year old in 2008.

Max's honours include winning the 2016 British u-14 Grand Prix series and this year's Northern u-16 Individual title.

Max has received valued financial support from Wigan Council's Believe Talent Fund and the Astley & Tyldesley Miners' Welfare Club.

A&T also have Mick Knowles racing in the championships in Adelaide.

Mick will be representing GB in the forthcoming World Veterans Championships and veterans test matches.
