Atherton Collieries against Colne earlier this year
ATHERTON Collieries play host for the final time in 2017 when old friends and rivals Colne visit The Kensite Stadium on Saturday.
The teams have been involved in some epic encounters over the past few years and Michael Clegg's team were promoted to the Evo-Stik League 12 months after the East Lancashire outfit.
The sides even met in Colls' historic first ever Evo-Stik encounter when goals from Ben Hardcastle and Jordan Cover brought a deserved 2-0 win.
On Boxing Day the black 'n' white stripes visit Ramsbottom United in another league game. Both matches kick off at 3pm.
Saturday's game at Kendal Town was postponed because of a frozen pitch.
