LEIGH RUFC took the spoils 26-14 in an eagerly awaited return fixture with Tyldesley.
The visiting Tyldesley side got the scoreboard ticking after eight minutes when Mark Dickinson followed up his own perfectly weighted kick and Paul Martin added the extra two points.
Hesitation between the Tyldesley left wing and full-back gifted the hosts a first score.
From there on Leigh had the better of the half, aided by a yellow card putting the visitors down to 14 men.
Leigh capitalised by crossing for three scores, two converted, for a healthy 26-7 lead.
Tyldesley kept Leigh pointless during the second half and recorded a second converted try for themselves through Jack weaver, nine minutes in, which gave the visitors hope.
Although on the front foot for long spells, poor game management constantly played into the hands of the hosts, who went down to 14 with an hour gone.
Unlike their opposition, Tyldesley failed to make the extra man count.
