WESTLEIGH’S CC’s first team recorded a 65 run victory against top of the league Elton, while the seconds recovered to hammer Blackley by 136 runs.
Louis Howard top scored with 65 not out for the 1XI as Westeigh’s batsman took advantage a good toss to win and a decent batting surface.
Their total of 234-3 rarely seemed under threat in the run chase, even though Elton kept close to the required run rate regular wickets hindered their progress.
Andy Lloyd was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 52.
An eventful game at The Pingot as Westleigh subsided to 147-7 with the best part of 20 overs remaining in the innings.
However a 103 run partnership between Nadeera Adhikari and Sean Makinson led the 2XI to a formidable 294/9, the former smashing a staggering 88 off just 42 balls including 8 sixes.
Wickets were shared in the reply as Blackley were all out for 158.
