Astley & Tyldesley raced to three convincing wins over Bury in Sunday’s Northern League fixture at Gin Pit. It was another baking hot sunny day, ridden in mainly dusty conditions, despite heavy track watering before each match.

In the Division 1 match, A&T quickly took control. Steve Harris raced to a fine maximum for A&T and recorded the fastest time of the day, 41.41 seconds, in heat 13. A&T scored solidly throughout to maintain their 100% record this season, winning 103-74. Kaysar Mohammadi was impressive for Bury, winning three of his five races.

A&T rode to a comfortable 87-61 victory in Division 2, to return to winning ways. Max Evans, fresh from racing for England juniors the day before, impressed with a maximum score, with all the A&T riders scoring well. Kaysar Mohammadi again impressed for Bury, losing only twice.

A&T set up a new all time record score for the Northern League Division 3, by beating Bury 209-11. This is the first time in the six years of the competition that A&T have topped the 200 mark. Aiden Green and John White raced to 16 points maximum scores in the u-10 and u-13 categories respectively.

Local based pairing of A&T’s Emily Burgess and Laura Watson, of Sheffield Stars, represented the North & Scotland and raced to overall victory in the Women’s Regional Pairs event at Gt. Blakenham,

Suffolk on Saturday. In the Junior Home International at Gt. Blakenham, Max Evans scored 4 points from 2 races, as England rode to a convincing victory. Ciaran Collins scored an impressive 12 points, as Ireland edged out Scotland and Wales, to finish 2nd in the match.

Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 2 of the multi-disciplinary North West Youth League. It was a very hot and sunny Saturday morning’s racing, with 35 riders competing.

A&T’s Aiden Green raced unbeaten in the u-8 qualifiers and won the Grand Prix ‘A’ Final, ahead of team mate Frank White.

Duncan Whalley of A&T rode to a 16 points maximum in the u-10 qualifiers and won the Grand Prix ‘A’ Final.

British u-12 Grand Prix Champion John White, of A&T, was the clear winner in the u-12 category, again going through the qualifiers unbeaten and winning the Grand Prix ‘A’ Final. He finished ahead of team mates Tom Morrissey and Charlie Burgess.

The u-14 event was won by Salt Ayre Cog Set’s Callum Williams and his team mate Ben Iddon won the u-16 Grand Prix ‘A’ Final.

Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 5 of the Manchester League Grand Prix series on a hot and sunny Wednesday evening.

A&T took a convincing win in the Division 2 (youth and juniors match), to make it five wins out of five this year. A&T’s Duncan Whalley raced to a maximum score in the u-10s match, with team mates Aiden Green, Lewis Skitterall and Fraser Brundrett all scoring heavily. A&T’s Tom Morrissey top scored in the u-13s match.

Stockport raced to victory in the Division 1 (seniors) match to move ahead of A&T in the league table for the first time this season. Reece Pollitt and Steve Harris were best for A&T.
