FOR the second successive week, Astley & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club celebrated a league title!

The under 13s riders recorded a whitewash 162-0 win over Hull to extend their 100 percent record and win the North and Scotland League Division Three title for the sixth year running.

Aiden Green and Duncan Whalley raced to 16 points maximum scores in the under 10s category, with John White doing likewise in the under 13s section.

Astley & Tyldesley's first team, the North & Scotland League champions, raced to a convincing 111-63 win over Hull in Sunday’s Division One match at Gin Pit.

A&T took the opportunity to give races to all 10 of their riders, who all scored well.

Hull fielded four riders, including one ineligible rider, so conceded 25 penalty points for the Division Two match.

The result was never in doubt, as A&T romped to a 118-43 win, to maintain their position at the top of the Division Two table.

A&T scored solidly throughout, with Max Evans riding unbeaten.

ASTLEY & Tyldesley Cycle Spedway Club were represented in five age categories at the third national round of the British Youth, Junior and Little League series in Coventry on Saturday.

The day began with the Little League competition and in the under eights event Aiden Green and Frank White both scored 14 points to qualify for the Grand Prix A final, where they finished third and fourth respectively.

In the overall series, Aiden lies second and Frank fourth with one round to go.

The older riders then contested the British Youth & Junior League matches, with John White scoring 14 points in the under 12s qualifying heats to progress to the Grand Prix A final where he finished in second place.

With one round to go, White is one of three joint leaders.
Emily Burgess scored 14 points in the girls' qualifying match to secure her place in the Grand Prix A final.

She took third place and in the overall series trails the leader by two points, with one round remaining.

Ciaran Collins was the last A&T rider to take the track in the under 18s category.

An excellent 15 points saw him joint top scorer and progress to the Grand Prix A final.

He finished second and remains in contention for an overall rostrum placing in the series.

Astley & Tyldesley riders enjoyed a double success in the Manchester League individual finals at Bury.

A&T riders dominated the under 10s final, with three riders tying for first place after each scored 15 points.

In the run-off for the title, Fraser Brundrett took first place ahead of Aiden Green and Duncan Whalley.

Just five riders contested the u-16 Final, but it was a hard fought event in each of the five races.

Max Evans secured the second place necessary in the deciding race to beat his main rival and clinch the under 16s title.
