PROPOSALS to scrap Super League's 8s and return to one-up, one-down promotion and relegation have been approved at today's Rugby League EGM in Salford.

The current system, in which the leagues split into eights after 23 rounds has been in place since 2015, and that will now cease at the end of this season.

The Championship and League 1 clubs will now meet separately to decide how they will go forward from 2019 onwards.
