PENNINGTON Lions FC under 11s have been crowned champions of the Skegness Football Tournament.
They travelled down to the East Midlands and came up against teams from all over the country, including Scotland, Durham, Leicestershire, Notting-hamshire, Lincolnshire and London.
They went on an eight-match unbeaten run, only conceding one goal in the process and scoring 16 at the opposite end.
Pennington played some excellent football and came through some tough and demanding games over a busy weekend schedule.
They were pushed all the way by Beamish FC from Durham but a 3-0 victory in their last game against Stainforth Juniors saw the Lions lift the trophy.
The team are on the lookout for quality players to join them for the 2009/10 season.
They will be stepping up to 11-a-side football in the top division of the Bolton, Bury and District Under 12s League.
