LEIGH Tennis Club’s Tom Johnson will be the second seed in the men’s singles when the annual Bolton Sports Federation Tennis Tournament starts next week.
All the action will take place at the Bolton School Courts on Chorley New Road from July 10, with matches starting at 6.30pm on weekdays and 1pm at weekends.
A finals day is set for July 18.
The tournament has attracted more than 260 applicants for 20 events, catering for league players of all standards and ages.
Following its successful introduction last year, the men’s handicap singles has become a permanent event with 32 entrants and Tom Lemon (David Lloyd Bolton TC) will be defending his title.
The number one seed and defending champion in the men’s singles is John Lister (Chorley TC) with Leigh’s Johnson as second seed.
In the women’s singles, Rachael Branagan (Hawkshaw TC) defends her title as first seed and second seed is Alexia Thomasson (David Lloyd Bolton TC).
The junior singles events feature Jonathan Halton (defending champion) and Alexia Thomasson as the number one seedings.
