LEIGH ABC's 16-year-old middleweight Tom Jones won his NACYP national quarter final in Wakefield on Saturday.
He defeated Yorkshire champion James Mitchison of Doncaster Plant ABC with a clear points victory.
Tom’s aggressive style mixed with fast combinations always had the more experienced Yorkshire boxer in trouble.
Leigh ABC boxers Lewis Davies and Jonny Brown were also in action over the weekend at the Carlton Hotel in Morecambe.
Heavyweight Lewis Davies was conceding over 10kgs to well-supported Skerton boxer Adam Emmett but used his footwork and long-range shots to take a unanimous points win.
Featherweight Jonny Brown was in another all-action affair but dropped a very close majority points decision.
Four boxers from the club flew to Guernsey at the weekend as part of a North West regional squad taking on Guernsey ABA.
Middleweight Damon Hulme produced a stunning second-round stoppage, while super heavyweight Michael Grayson took a dominant points win.
North West region schoolboy flyweight champion Adam Ridge dropped a narrow points decision, as did lightweight Jaymi Price.
