In the younger age groups, 15-year-old Shannon Johnson ran outstandingly in the girls’ under 15s race, finishing in 12th place out of 340 participants.

Leigh’s under 15s boys’ team saw Ryan Moore finish in an encouraging 34th place, while Adam Howarth was an improving 113th place.

Rebecca Howarth ran her first senior women’s national championship race and finished in 48th place despite a calf injury preventing her form performing her best.
