Mick Fishwick on Leigh East's 30-14 defeat to Hunslet Hawks on Saturday:
I thought the lads did themselves proud. We over-exceeded what we expected.
We worked on our game plan, we stuck to our game plan and I'm proud of every one of them.
We let a little bit of ill-discipline creep in and we gave a few penalties away. I think the referee was a little inconsistent with his penalties.
They were camped on our line for numerous sets of six, we tackled really well on our own line. There were a couple of opportunities that we should have taken but other than that, the score doesn't reflect the game to be honest with you.
Gary Middlehurst stood out really well, Ryan Fieldhouse made some really good yards from the full back position and took his try very well.
Groves finished his tries really well. We've got one or two other wingers at our club but I don't think any winger would have finished as well as young Andrew.
Our heads never dropped and that is why we are top of the Conference League and why we have only lost three games all season.
We are a team that never gives up. Up until the last 10 minutes you would have thought that we were in the same kind of league. There was nothing in it at all and I think we were rather unlucky. We could have won it, I think it could have gone either way.
We can only kick on from this. We are sitting on top of the Conference, now we've got this competition out of the way we can concentrate on the top six and the play-offs and we are still in the BARLA National Cup.
