Leek CSOB 3 Atherton Colls 4
ATHERTON Colleries held on to sixth place in the North West Counties Football League First Division after a thrilling 4-3 victory away to Leek.
Colls put themselves ahead on 27 minutes when Paul Haynes latched onto a Joe Fielding free kick to grab his 10th goal of the season.
Shane Reaney took the ball past Josh Harris to stroke home and level for Leek but Colls regained the lead when Paul Atherton nutmegged the onrushing keeper.
Colls made it 3-1 in the second half when Atherton tapped in his second of the game.
It should have been the end, but a Tarr double put the home side on level terms with 10 minutes remaining.
But the visitors had a hattrick hero in Atherton and he latched onto the end of his twin brother Karl’s cross to earn a dramatic late victory.
