SEVENTEEN-year-old Leigh Amateur Boxing Club lightweight Jonny Brown put in a top class performance on Sunday to win the Junior ABA 60kg class national semi final at the Excel Centre in Bolton.

Facing the top rated and powerful Ben Atkinson of Long Lane ABC of Merseyside, Jonny produced the best performance of his young career so far to take a close points decision, a place in the national finals on May 23, and a chance to win the same Junior ABA title previously held by Amir Khan, Junior Witter and Ricky Hatton.

Leigh ABC will be holding their next show at Lowton Civic Hall on May 21, where they will be taking on a Scotland select squad.
