Atherton Collieries 5 Holker Old Boys 0

JOE Fielding trebled his goal tally for Atherton Collieries in their North West Counties defeat of Barrow side Holker Old Boys.

Having previously scored two goals in 60 games, his four on Saturday saw him deservedly receive the match ball signed by his colleagues.

His first goal came straight from his corner kick in the 18th minute.

Next he stuck out a foot to lash the ball past goalkeeper Samuel Stephens to double Colls’ advantage in the 33rd minute.

When Gary Burnett was fouled three minutes into the second half, Fielding took responsibility for the spot kick and he blasted the ball home for his hat-trick.

Colls won the ball back from the restart and Fielding was on hand yet again to put the game well beyond the visitors.

Colls took their foot off the gas but Holker rarely threatened Lee Novak's goal.

Half an hour after their fourth goal the home side finally made it five.

Burnett beat the Holker offside trap and with Stephens in no-man’s land, he chipped the ball for Colls to hit the five-goal mark for the third time this season.

The match was a personal success for Joe Fielding, prior to this game he had scored just two goals in sixty games. He thoroughly deserved the matchball signed by his Next up for Colls is a trip to the Whitebank Stadium to face Oldham Boro on Saturday, with AFC Darwen visiting Alder House on Monday, kick off 7.45pm.
