LEIGH East Under 18s’ BARLA National Cup campaign is over.
They went out 20-16 in round one against Oluton Raiders at the weekend.
Their next match will be in the new National Youth League in March.
Four players made their debuts for East, wiith Mitch Cox,Tommy Holland, Alex Holcroft and Tom Worthington producing solid performances.
East went 6-0 behind in the mud but Curt Littlewood dummied his way over and added the goal to make it 6-6.
After 20 minutes, Jordan Hampson and Littlewood were forced off with a dislocated elbow and neck injury.
They managed to get a foothold back in the game shortly after though with a try from Matty Pendlebury.
Two quick-fire tries from Oulton should have killed East off but again they came back, this time with Nicky Ratcliffe going between the sticks to drag the game back to 18-16.
East should have come away with a try but with the last play but they spilt the ball.
