RICARDO Vaz Te continued his rich vein of form to help Wanderers reserves end a run of seven straight league defeats.
The injury-plagued striker scored twice for Portugal Under-23s against Wales last week.
And he struck two more for the Wanderers second string against Sunderland at Leyland’s County Ground in a dress rehearsal for tonight’s Premier League clash between the two teams.
Vaz Te, whose Reebok career has been blighted by knee problems, headed second-bottom Bolton in front from Aaron Mooy’s inviting free-kick on 24 minutes.
Stuart McDonald should have doubled their advantage moments later but shot tamely at Trevor Carson after good work from Zoltan Harsanyi.
Sunderland were level on 34 minutes when indecision between Rhys Bennett and Chris Stokes allowed Carson’s long clearance to bounce before Stokes compounded his error by bringing Oumare Tounkara down in the area. Ryan Noble sent Adam Bogdan the wrong way from the spot.
But Vaz Te restored Wanderers’ lead on 68 minutes when he rifled home after Bogdan’s long free-kick dropped to him just inside the penalty box.
