LEIGH Genesis’ next fixture is scheduled for Saturday.
Tuesday’s Lancashire FA Cooperative Challenge Trophy quarter final tie away to Colne was postponed due to bad weather, as was last Saturday’s home fixture against Rossendale United.
Weather permitting, Leigh will host promotion rivals Curzon Ashton at Ashton United's Hurst Cross ground on Saturday at 3pm.
A fixture clash with Leigh Centurions’ friendly against Warrington Wolves 24 hours later left the Leigh Sports Village Company deciding that the rugby league match takes precedence over the UniBond First Division fixture.
Genesis spokesperson Mary Croasdale said: “The club regret that this match has been diverted away from our home ground and we feel that this is unacceptable for our loyal supporters, especially our season ticket holders.
“We are therefore meeting with senior LSV staff to look at all fixtures for the rest of the season and are hopeful that a plan acceptable to all parties - LSV Co, LGFC and the UniBond League - can be reached.
“To alleviate some of the inconvenience to our fans, the club will be providing transport from Leigh Sports Village to Ashton on the 16th which will be free of charge to season ticket holders and at minimal cost to others who wish to travel.
“Full details will be released on the club's official website, www.leighgenesis.com.”
Leigh Genesis have not played since the 4-1 victory over AFC Fylde at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium on December 19.
The have been in action off the field, though, with manager Garry Flitcroft signing a new striker.
Former Stockport County frontman Richard Ratcliffe has been training with the club recently and did enough to impress Flitcroft and assistant Mike Quigley and earn himself a permanent deal with the club.
A hard working player with a powerful strike, 19-year-old Ratcliffe fits the bill as a traditional centre forward and will be looking to earn himself a first team place.
Having began his career with Stockport County, Ratcliffe recently had a spell in Sweden with Ytterhogdals IK.
